What's New for Vermont History Day 2012?
Web site entries:
Make sure you are using the most recent NHD Rule Book with updated rules for web site entries.
All web site entries must be created using the National History Day/ Weebly portal. When students sign up at http://nhd.weebly.com, the entry will be assigned a web site address that looks like http://95366056.nhd.weebly.com. This url will be submitted on the entry form and judges will access the live web site. No CD-Rom entry is necessary this year. Students will be able to make changes to their web sites until the submission deadline of March 20, 2012.
Based on the growing popularity of the web site category, there will now be 4 judging groups for web sites: Junior Individual, Junior Group, Senior Individual and Senior Group.
Student Help & Research Day:
Students who want some feedback on their projects or help with bibliographies - or any other History Day related concerns - can come to the Student Help and Research Day. Staff will be available to help from 12:00-8:00 on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Vermont History Center in Barre. Students can also research in the Vermont Historical Society Library, located at the Vermont History Center. Pre-registration suggested. Entry & submission deadlines:
All entry forms are due Friday, March 9, 2012 (by mail or fax). Include paper titles and web site url addresses. Historical papers and web sites are not due with the entry forms this year.
Historical papers and web sites are due by the submission deadline of Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
Papers: 4 copies must arrive at the Vermont Historical Society by the end of the day.
Web sites: access to web site editing on the NHD/ Weebly portal will close at midnight. Students should bring 4 copies of the process paper & annotated bibliography with them to the contest (different from the rules for the NHD contest).
All entries: changes to titles, categories or students made after Tuesday, March 20, 2012 may not be reflected in judging assignments or judging documents. Please make every effort to finalize entry details by the submission deadline.
