Farmers' Night features historic debates
MONTPELIER, VERMONT: From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, the Vermont Debate and Forensics League will present “Debate and Interpretation of Vermont Issues.” The featured debate will be “Should Vermont Lower the Drinking Age to 18?” This performance is part of the popular Farmers' Night series at the State House, free and open to the public. Tess Taylor, Vermont Historical Society’s Director of Education and Public Programming advocates, “Get inspired by these Vermont high school students as they re-enact lively State House debates.” The students will also present impromptu arguments for timely legislative topics.
The Vermont Debate and Forensics League was created in 1978 to promote interscholastic speech competition. The VDFL conducts a full schedule of debate and public speaking tournaments hosted by participating schools throughout Vermont during the fall and winter seasons.
The event is hosted by the Vermont Historical Society and sponsored by Friends of the State House.
